My name is Gemma Goddard and I am a Mum to one little boy. In my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy visiting new places including holidaying in other countries.
I qualified as a Social Worker in 2012 with a Bachelor’s of science degree with honours. I have worked within children’s residential homes as well as working for the youth services for 2 years.
I have worked within the Local Authority since qualifying. I spent two years working in the looked after children’s team and almost 6 years in the front-line locality teams. The experience in which I have gained through this is of; court work and complex abuse cases. I have also had the opportunity to work with a diverse service user base and with families whose first language is not English. I have an extensive knowledge and training of child criminal exploitation and child sexual exploitation.
I work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that the needs of the child are met. Within my professional role I continue to develop my knowledge by attending relevant training to keep up to date with all legislation.
I have a keen passion for working therapeutically. I have also worked within the signs of safety model. I am always wanting to enhance my learning and will do this through reading and researching.
I feel honoured to be joining the team at Safe Base fostering and developing my experience. I am looking forward to working with the foster carer’s and offering support to them.
