My name is Sarah Newman and I am a mummy to two children a girl and boy who I love spending time with doing outdoor activities, seeing new places.
I have been a Supervising Social Worker for 4 years and have a degree in Sociology and Criminology as well as a Master in Social Work from Hull and Sheffield Hallam. I have worked as a Volunteering Assistant n this role I was a Teaching Assistant, Detached Youth Worker, Youth Worker, Disability Support Worker, a part of the Children’s Participation and Rights Team as an Independent Visitor as well as a Family Support Worker. Over the past 9 years these courses and roles have allowed me to gain knowledge and experience of providing people with help, support and guidance when they need it and protecting vulnerable children, families and adults.
I have been responsible for supervising Foster carers and Children Looked After (CLA) by supporting and managing the needs of the CLA and foster carers. I liaise with the placing authorities and the administration and delivery of the service so that a child’s care plan is followed through. I undertake annual foster carer reviews manage a caseload, provide day to day support and participate in the matching process for potential foster carers. I provide placement reports on a frequent basis which are in line with social work practice and agrees with the placing authority, keep appropriate records of all work and maintain data management in line with Data Protection. I attend supervision, team meetings and all staff days whilst being proactive in all matters relating to health and safety and child protection as well as reporting any concerns to fostering to my care manager.
I am thrilled to be apart of the Safe Base team and look forward to my journey continuing with the company and all approved foster carers as well as others who wish to start their fostering journey with us.
