Julie & Rob’s Story

It hasn't always been plain sailing but we have received exceptional support from the staff at Safe Base Fostering.

Hi We are Julie and Rob,

We have been fostering for 9 years. Our first placement was 9 years ago when we welcomed 3 amazing children into our home. Those children are still with us to this day and we are now known to them as “mum and dad” their choice of course! The plan is for them to stay in our care until they turn 18 and beyond. We are family now.

It hasn’t always been plain sailing but we have received exceptional support from the staff at safe base fostering.

We moved to this agency in August 2016 and we have never looked back. Our children were 8,7, and 5 at the time. They are now 14,13,11, navigating the dynamics and complexities of teenagers, hormones, and the fact they do have a life story whereby they have been neglected resulting in them becoming looked after children in our care is complex. That is why we are always open to advice and support and feel the training offered by Safe Base is of a high level and helps us with our daily role of being foster carers.

Safe Base also offers the carers an independent practitioner named Margaret Meade; Margaret is amazing, she is a very experienced psychotherapist and offers advice monthly in something called the emotional well-being service. This service really helps us in our fostering role.Ā

You can always pop into the office and have a chat with any of the staff and this agency really does have a team feel. Which is vital, if you feel supported by your agency, then you can best support your children.Ā
